DyLynn's House provides home-style care for children from infancy through preschool age. My practice is influenced by RIE methods, Waldorf ideals, Montessori materials and the world around us. Based on over 20 years of experience working with families, an A.A. in Early Childhood Education and a B.S. in Psychology, my program reflects my own personal beliefs and experiences as well as those of the children and families who have been a part of our small childcare group.
Over the years, I have come to believe that the field of Early Childhood Education, and specifically the care of children from birth to three years, forms one of the many cornerstones of social change. My efforts in this work are aimed at improving the overall quality of life for everyone. Children who are cared for in nurturing relationships and thoughtfully planned environments will be a part of improving the world we are preparing them to live in. They will acquire a sense of authenticity and have potential for full development throughout their lives.
While we do expect early childhood experiences to support the development of life's later skills, what is of most benefit to children is our recognition that childhood itself is a unique stage of the human life cycle. The quality of children's lives must be valued in the present, not just as preparation for the future. When our children learn to live with self-respect and tolerance for others and to live with humble appreciation for our planet, the quality of life improves for us all.
